It was a clack heard round the world. What we know as printing started when Johannes Gutenberg completed his 42-line Bible in 1455. Though he had successfully printed other sheets before, such as poems, it was the Gutenberg Bible that launched printing into the industry of mass production of literature. It had, till that point, been necessary to copy literature manually, though there were rudimentary methods of presses that had been utilized. Nothing compared to the Gutenberg Printing Press though. It was the beginning of printing and today we honor Gutenberg’s legacy.
